TIME has created a 50 best websites of 2007 to …”honor sites with exceptional style and smarts, sites that offer new and improved ways to access and share content, generate our own and otherwise enrich the online (and off-line) experience” but did not forget to include it’s worst 5 websites in the mix.

#1 Worst Website of 2007 Award goes to…

eHarmony.com

While eHarmony claims to bring forth a more “scientific” approach to online dating differentiating them from their competitors, what really happens is you find yourself LESS compatible with the numerous possible matches. How you say? Get this, the more questions you answer on the compatibility list the more likely you are going to find yourself as you guessed it ‘Unique’, therefore determining you as possibly incompatible with ANYONE on eHarmony. eHarmony’s response – stick with it for a few months to improve your odds of finding your soul mate. Way to boost self esteem!!! But don’t you worry, there are benefits, eHarmony benefits that is, because every month longer you are on eHarmony, the more they collect out of your pocket in membership fees!

Let us also mention the fact that they discriminate against the GLBT community. That’s right, I said it! And I am not the first. Taking a quick minute to see what eHarmony offers a member of the GLBT community, eHarmony’s very Welcome Page tells me a member of the GLBT community is not welcome to their website. One has two choices on the first page of eharmony.com: “Man seeking a woman” and “Woman seeking a man.” Curious as to why this is so? The founder of eHarmony, Neil Clark Warren is a conservative Christian, a former recurring guest on James Dobson’s radio show, a man who used the overweening right-wing group Focus on the Family to help promote eHarmony in its early days — and a man who apparently believes that gays are some kind of different species. But don’t you worry eHarmony…Today I am not that desperate to join your community!

Watch a great video responding to eHarmony’s discrimination:

Evite.com

So I’m going to be honest on this one, I’ve never heard of it until now. So I’ll have to agree, it aught to be in that list somewhere. So let’s read what TIME has to say about Evite:

“The site, in short, is crying out for an overhaul. With more and more sites emphasizing flexibility and user control over content, Evite’s fill-in-the-blanks approach feels clumsy and dated. The ads are intrusive and navigation’s a drag. The service has also been slow to adopt some of the media sharing tools that have become standard ways of the Web. You can upload photos but only after the party, and you can forget music and video. The company says these features are in development. We can’t wait.”

I would however like to comment on the advertisement on the website. Good job to ya Evite! Advertising for Lybrel (birth control pills) will definitely get you some good advertising money. Did you know that there are specific niches of advertisement that pay a great deal of money – some more than others, can you guess what is in the top of the lists? You guessed it…pharmaceuticals! So my question is this, what the hell does birth control have to do with Evite??? I guess any which way you can smash more unrelated content into my face is the way Evite will continue to do business. Evite, for that reason alone, I agree with TIME. (Unfortunately this very post will gain you more unique internet traffic).

#3 Worst Website of 2007 Award goes to …

Meez.com

Not only did FireFox crash when I tried clicking on “fabulousinlove” avitar on it’s Spotlight Meez section, but they are just plain annoying. Who uses these things? And why can’t you have consideration for the person who has to wait for their page to load to watch this annoying little thing dance around in two measly movements? Nuff Said!

#4 Worst Website of 2007 Award goes to …

MySpace.com

So I would like to come to MySpace’s defense on this one. At one time I to had a MySpace account. I was able to find amazing new underground music that I would have never heard on the ever so pop culture airwaves expanding my eclectic taste. For that reason alone I applaud MySpace. One feature that eHarmony can take a lesson from, is the ability to search profiles within the GLBT search fields – Can I get a GAY, Can I get a LESBIAN, Can I get a Bi, Can I get a Transexual…What’s that spell? Well for one – more revenue for MySpace :) So MySpace earned some points with me…they don’t discriminate. Ha! They failed to discriminate so poorly, numerous amounts of garbage from shameless marketeers and other opportunists throwing more garbage my way was consistently happening on a daily basis. MySpace took an ugly turn. I was constantly being bombarded with fake people and their fake profiles, trying to promote more garbage that I didn’t ask for nor wanted. MySpace – “DELETE PROFILE”
